Performance
Practical Performance Conversations is a program designed to learn and practice the four skills and four conversations aimed at improving and increasing confidence and trust in conversations regarding performance.
Many current performance conversations focus too much on holding people accountable for past behaviour at the expense of improving current performance and to grow people for the future. In contrast, regular and consistent conversations discussing performance and development changes the focus to one focused on the future for building capabilities in people.
-
With this background, we provide participants with the knowledge and skills for carrying out the four essential conversations predictably and consistently. Participants learn and practice the four performance conversations skills:
- Listen to Learn – focus on what the other person is saying;
- Inquire for Understanding – ask open ended questions focusing on moving forward;
- Tell Your Truth – avoid blame or judgement as you focus on moving forward; and
- Express Confidence – highlight previous qualities and skills and offer support as needed.
-
Not only do participants learn and practice the conversation skills, they also receive a Practical Performance Conversations toolkit to access and continue to use post program, enabling increased confidence and capability for managers and increasing levels of trust with team members.
Then by combining 2 corresponding performance conversation skills we can then practice the four conversations are as outlined below:
- Goal setting – collaboratively discussing and refining ‘what a good job looks like’;
- Praising – ensuring recognition is provided for correct behaviours and results;
- Redirecting – providing a path to shift back towards the goal, when behaviours or results are not meeting expectations; and
- Wrapping Up – the process of discussing what happened and what have we learnt from the experience.
Our Practical Performance Conversations training program is designed for managers responsible undertaking performance reviews of their direct reports, peers and employees.

Psychological Safety
Learn to Thrive – not Survive
Proven, Practical and Profound way to learn a mind set and skill set for developing psychological safety at work and in life.
Leaning into change (35 minute elearning)
When you lean into change, you build your adaptability and with this you develop a mind set and skill set to perceive change differently. Change and how individuals respond to it can be a significant cause of stress, leading to decreased personal well-being and workplace productivity. But without change, businesses can’t innovate, grow, or evolve. To confidently address the increasing pace of technological and societal change, it’s critical we gain the skills necessary to navigate change successfully.
This online program helps participants to improve their ability to adapt to change, starting with how to practice mindfulness. By learning to sense their physical and emotional responses to change, they can pause to accept that response, then move forward intentionally. This acknowledgment enables people to tell themselves a different story about their ability to move toward change. The course builds upon this foundation of mindfulness to show learners how to harness their curiosity, courage, and resilience to adopt change.

Building Trust (4 hour virtual session)
The level of trust employees have with colleagues or a leader determines how well they work together, listen to one another and rely on each other to get things done. Successful and healthy workplaces are built on a foundation of trust. When work relationships are founded on trust, we experience improved communication, greater innovation and resilience overall. But when trust is diminished or low, we are unable to practice mindfulness, wellbeing and satisfaction decreases.
Yet many people are unaware of the actions that build or erode trust. Participants learn how to build trust and, if it’s been broken, how to repair it. This proven and practical approach is easy to learn, easy to remember, and most importantly easy to use on the job. The elements of trust (ABCD) form a common language for people to talk about trust without fear. By using the trust Model, participants are able to look at their relationships, focus on the aspects of those relationships that need repair and have a conversation to improve the situation. Understanding what behaviours lead to high trust is the first step in developing higher trust with others.
Overcoming Conflict (4 hour virtual session)
Does this sound familiar? When a challenging topic or conflict arises, natural defences and survival instincts kick in, making open and honest dialogue difficult. When this happens, people can be either overly cautious, don’t speak openly, or they get defensive and argumentative.
Some people feel comfortable leaning into conflict, whilst others prefer to avoid situations of conflict. Understanding your natural tendencies (to ‘win’ or ‘minimise’ in conflict situations) is a first step in understanding how to handle situations differently and feel more in control. Most people don’t have the awareness or skills to work through conflict and this can be detrimental to their health and wellbeing.
Being able to overcome conflict fosters greater trust, collaboration and wellbeing, and just about everything else positive in the workplace. But poor communication derails relationships, leaving people feeling judged, blamed or offended, diminishing teamwork. That’s how you can flip difficult exchanges into learning opportunities, and unfocused meetings into inspirational interactions.
Register now to learn and practice the mind set and skill set to have more impactful conversations which will increase resilience, wellbeing and an ability to thrive.

Challenging Conversations
You can have the smartest people around the table, but if minor differences in opinion throw conversations off track and hinder progress, you’re not getting access to their best thinking. When a challenging topic or conflict arises, natural defences kick in, making open and honest dialogue difficult.
When this happens, people can be either overly cautious and don’t speak openly or they get defensive and argumentative. Most people don’t have the awareness or skills to work through it, so creativity, collaboration, and innovation suffer.
Imagine if instead of wasting time with ineffective conversations, your teams were capable of having open, productive dialogue that resulted in collaboration and finding the best solutions. Your teams should be able to put their most difficult, painful, divisive issues on the table and work through them in fair and productive ways.
Conversational Capacity can be delivered as a one-day, face-to-face workshop or as three 2-hour virtual sessions. Both designs include compelling visuals and materials, engaging videos, and proven learning activities that teach participants:
- The mindset of conversational capacity
- The natural tendencies to either “minimise” or “win” and the consequences of both
- How to quickly recognise when these emotional reactions threaten to throw us off balance
- The four skills for balancing candour and curiosity to stay in the conversational sweet spot
After the workshop, participants will have the skills to stay in the conversational sweet spot, allowing for increased creativity and innovation, and avoiding regrets over things that happen in the heat of the moment.
Don’t let unproductive conversations derail meetings and stall projects, wasting time and money for the organisation. When people can address tough issues in fair and constructive ways, teams can engage in learning-focused dialogue so they can make informed decisions, find the best solutions, and help projects move forward as they should.
This program is designed for anyone with difficult people or tough situations. Theses could be individuals, teams, managers or executive leaders.
